The Origin Story

From sterling silver to smoke-filled lounges, Room101 was never just a brand. It started as a side project. It became a movement. A collision of artistry, grit and a refusal to settle — born from design, built on rebellion.
The Brand
Room101 isn’t a brand that climbed the ladder. It built its own, with scrap metal and a blowtorch.
Born in 2003, Room101 was founded on a belief: that a lifestyle brand with authentic, street-level luxury roots could stand toe-to-toe with the design houses of old. Not by copying them, but by outworking them, out-crafting them, and flipping their polished narratives upside down.
What started as handmade sterling silver jewelry blending Asian motifs with an L.A. edge, evolved into an underground luxury collective. Over time, Room101 expanded, but its philosophy never changed: make things with character or don’t bother making them at all.

The Founder
Matt Booth didn’t set out to be a cigar maker. But once he lit the fuse, there was no turning back. A former Marine with a designer’s eye, Booth brought his obsession with craft from L.A.’s silver scene into the world of premium cigars, blending tradition with a heavy dose of rebellion.
He launched Room101 Cigars in 2009 with a simple mission: honor the ritual, break the rules, and never settle for ordinary. The brand has been stirring up the humidor ever since.
